"Tuning" into God

Sometimes, with all the busyness and stresses of life, it gets difficult to hear and decipher what God desires for us in our lives.  Sometimes, it feels difficult to connect with Him, or hear from Him in our prayer life. Its like trying to get a good "clear" signal on an AM/FM radio - sometimes all we hear is static.

But... when we make the decision to "tune in" to God, by putting in effort, and going to the places that focus on Him - it all becomes more clear: the direction in which he wants us to go.

We can begin by reading His word, the Bible.  We can take the moment to pray. We can listen to an inspiring, uplifting Christian sermon on you tube. We can hangout with Christian friends who inspire us to live lives of Godly, pure characters. We can go to church. We can challenge ourselves to tell others who don't know about God, about His amazing Love, and we can show others through our actions - who God is, and what Jesus' love is all about.

This may seem difficult, as it requires discipline, and effort, but with Christ all things are possible.
(see Philippians 4:13). Hopefully that will help to get rid of the "static" - so you will be able to tune into God with a more clear signal.

3 Christian Audio Books that have changed my life

Besides the bible, there are three different Christian "audio books" (which you can also get in hard-copy),  that have had such profound messages, and have impacted my everyday living.

I would recommend any of them to you, to inspire you to live your best life for God. :)

The cool thing about these books too, is that all of them were given or lent to me by Christian friends. It had lifted them up so much in their lives- that they felt inspired to lend or give me a copy... how's that for God's spirit working through people?

So, just as my 3 different Christian friends inspired me to take a listen or read one of these books (or audio books), I would encourage you to do the same. They will help increase your faith and help form better habits too.

Here they are....

5 Heart-Healthy Red Foods for Valentines Day

Strawberries. Strawberries are great for reducing inflammation and lowering the "bad" LDL cholesterol that can cause damage to arteries.

Tomatoes. The tomato gets its rich red color from lycopene, an antioxidant that could potentially stave off heart disease. The potassium in tomatoes also helps to lower blood pressure.

Red bell peppers.  It contains flavonoids and vitamin C - nutrients that can prevent blood clot formation, reduce cholesterol, and lower your risk for heart attacks and strokes.

Red apples. Just one apple a day, keeps the doctor away. This year-round fruit provides your heart with soluble fiber as well as antioxidants like vitamin C.

Red cabbage. In addition to keeping your cholesterol levels low, this vegetable protects against both heart disease and cancer with antho-cyanins (which give the cabbage it's red color) as well the antioxidant vitamin C.

Receiving God's Love when you're not feeling 100%...

Ever have one of those days when something in life doesn't go as planned- and you're left feeling like you were served the short end of the stick?

Here's what Jesus Christ in the bible has to say about that- as revealed in his Sermon on the Mount.

(Matthew 5)

He said:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn,
    for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,
    for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me."

So,  the next time you are tempted to complain that life is not fair or wallow in self-pity... realize and KNOW deep down- that God knows your heart and hears your cries.  And if you're feeling low, remember these messages that Jesus gave, about God blessing you when you are poor, in mourning, meek, hungry, merciful, pure, peaceful, and when stand up for His name. Hope that lifts you up today, and blesses you! :)
