Here's an interesting invention to get rid of the accumulation of garbage (candy wrappers, tissues, etc.) in your pockets and purses... Introducing: The Garbage Pin!

Question is... would you wear one?

Lets Go Blue Jays!!!

This weekend, the Toronto Blue Jays played their final home game of the regular season at Rogers Center, and it was a grand finale!

They clinched a playoff spot for the first time in over 20 years!

It was an honour to see, from waaaaay up in the bleachers...

The crowd was super pumped for Fan Appreciation Weekend!

One of my favorite parts was seeing Christian (Catholic) Blue Jay Pitcher Roberto Osuna do the "sign of the cross" and say a prayer before pitching - honouring God - in front of over 47,000 people!

He even posted a photo of Jesus Christ the week before, on his Twitter account, with the words:
"My God is the God of the IMPOSSIBLE."

Pretty Cool eh?  Of course while at Rogers Center, I got to hang-out with some Blue Jays... their cardboard Cut-Outs, that is, LOL!

And take some pictures of some cool Blue Jays ad signs, like this one...

....  LETS GO BLUE JAYS!  :)  Hope they become the next champs!

Talking to the Sensitive

Last week, I made the mistake of joking with a family member, who ended up feeling extremely hurt by the jokes I told them about something they owned/had.

Although it was never my intention to hurt their feelings... by making fun of something they owned  that I thought was funny (but they didn't), it caused them to lash out in sadness and anger, rather than laughing in good fun at the jokes... I have since apologized to them, and hope that this moment can teach me (and all of us) to speak kindly to the more sensitive ones, who may not be handle particular jokes, due to life circumstances.

My mom sent me this "Before You Speak, THINK" picture.

It reminds me of Ephesians 4:29 in the Bible...

29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

Also, James 1:26...
"If a man thinks that he serves God, and does not hold his tongue,
but deceives his heart, this person's service is worthless."

And Ephesians 4:32 goes...
"Be kind to one another."

Hoping we can all practice this in our own lives (myself included), and be more sensitive to the feelings of others, by praising their positives, rather than poking fun at or condemning them.

The Most Important Commandment: "Love God."

Jesus really instructs us to Praise God first and foremost.

When asked what is the most IMPORTANT commandment,

Jesus says: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind."  -Matthew 22:37

When we focus our time and energy on God's ways through his words and instructions in the Bible, rather than our own ways, that can transform us to have a more loving character, like Him.

Waterskiing- Nothing is Impossible!

This weekend was my first time attempting water skiing in Port Sydney.

One of the most frustrating things, for anyone learning the sport,
is trying to get up on your skis in the first place!!!

I cant tell you how many times I fell smack dab into the water
as I attempted to just stand on my skis while being towed by the boat.

But finally... after much coaching and patience from kind friends...
I was able to get up, and ski the length of Honey Harbour
from one short end to the other... and I did it twice!

It felt like such an accomplishment...
And it was quite the crazy workout!!!

Watersports are A LOT of hard work, as easy as some people make it look.
(Leme tell ya, my arms today are paying for it! But it was well worth it!)

And nobody tells you in advance,
that you end up swallowing a ton of lake water, haha!

I was in the company of 4 other friends who were also attempting water skiing for the first time ever, and when asked what was the one tip I could give other first-timers when it comes to finally getting up on their skis, I said it was "To just keep telling yourself that you can do this!" and to listen to the coach's tips carefully!

It really reminds me of the bible verse Luke 1:37...
"Nothing is Impossible with God"

Why?  Because if it says in the bible that nothing is impossible, then it MUST be a biblical truth that anything can be accomplished in this world when we Believe... but there's a catch!!!  The "with God" part.

So, just as much as I could not have ever gotten up on my water skis without coaching from The Pros (Who said: "ski's together, arms straight, bend knees!"),
unless we listen to God's teachings in the bible brought to us c/o Christ,
things that are impossible will continue to look that way.

Remember, it says that "NOTHING is impossible."

So let's continue to Believe... whether that be from learning to waterski, or living out your dreams in life...  because remember, with our Heavenly Father "coach" in heaven- it is ALL possible!!!  No matter how many times we fall.  :)

Diet from Negative Thoughts

I heard a really cool sermon this week from Joel Osteen on Youtube.
It has to do with saying "No Thanks," when un-Godly thoughts come to steal your joy.

Here's the analogy.

When you're on a diet, you say "No thanks" to sweets, right?
Because you want to stay fit,
if you were on a diet and someone offered you a slice of delicious chocolate cake,
you'd say- "No Thanks", and turn away, right?

Same thing goes when you are on a strict budget.
You could see a really cool expensive outfit at the mall, but because you know you're rent money is coming out that week,
or... maybe you want to save for your family's next vacation,
you do the same thing, and say:  "No thanks", and turn away. Right?

Well, the same analogy can be applied to Negative thoughts.
If you want to constantly have The Joy of the Lord in your life,
you need to have a "diet" from negative thoughts.
So... if a situation in life tells you that you're not good enough for something,
or that you'll never break through a situation... or, if any other hurtful or negative thought threatens your mind to steal your joy, You gotta be strong enough to say:  "No thanks". And turn away from that negative thought.

Nehemiah 8:10, "The Joy of the Lord is my strength."

When you say: "No Thanks" to the chocolate cake, you can reach your goals for a healthier you.

When you say: "No Thanks" to the expensive item at the store, you can reach your goals for saving
and not going into debt.

When you say: "No Thanks" to that negative thought that tells you that life is good-for-nothing,
life becomes worth something amazing.

God bless you today!!! :)

Mystery diamond ring

Last week, when I got into the radio station in the morning, I found that someone had placed a cute big pink diamond ring in my mailbox... What a sweet surprise!  :)

Here are my theories about where the bling came from:

1. The Janitor was cleaning, and found the ring the floor, and just placed it in there
2. One of my female coworkers passed on some surprise gifts (receptionists or human resources maybe?)
3. Or perhaps was it a listener who toured the station, and slipped mystery presents into our mailboxes?
4. Maybe one of my co-workers has a secret crush on me (hahaha- totally just kidding!)
5. An angel put it there?

Let's go with Option 5, Angel. :)  Just for fun.  So to whoever it was that put the Bling Bling in my mailbox, thanks a lot!  I'll be wearing it later today, coz it's so cute!!! :) You made my day!

And if by chance someone really DID lose a pink diamond ring... and if in fact the Janitor DID place it in my mailbox--- hey, guess what, its no longer missing- and Id happily give it back to you!  Kindly Email me, and Ill hand deliver it to you: maria@lifeonline.fm  ... coz really, who likes losing jewelry anyways???

As a side note, the timing was actually pretty cool too...  The night before I saw this pink diamond, I was in downtown Toronto with a friend, handing out lollipops and scripture verse cards to homeless beggars, just to give them a sweet surprise, on my way to a concert... so, when all of a sudden, the day after, someone leaves me a "random" sweet surprise too- the timing couldn't be better!!! It definitely made my day, and was totally unexpected! Sweetness! :)
